A court hearing to allow an activist to fight a decision granting the Auckland Council to sell her home has been adjourned.

Penny Bright has not paid her rates since 2007, racking up a debt of more than $33,000 through unpaid rates and subsequent penalties.

Ms Bright has said she would refuse to make the payments until the council revealed how it spends rates.

An earlier court decision allowed the council to sell her $500,000 Kingsland home and take what it is owed from that.

Ms Bright was appealing against the decision today and provided a large amount of last-minute documentation which the council's lawyer asked for time to analyse.

A date for the resumption of the hearing would be decided on after Christmas.
