Fiji police is yet to say how a military officer wanted by police in Suva managed to get bail when he appeared in a Lautoka court.
On Wednesday, police said they didn't know where to find the officer, Pita Matairavula, who had twice failed to appear in a Suva court after he was charged with assault of an escaped prisoner.

However, yesterday Mr Matairavula was in court in Lautoka where he was among nine people charged with last year's rape of a civilian who later died in hospital.
The case was deferred and Mr Matairavula was granted bail.
Another co-defendant in the Lautoka case was absent because he was among four suspects on remand over the assault case in Suva.
Last week, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions said Mr Matairavula would be produced in court once he had been located.
Police have said that Mr Matairavula, who has worked as the prime minister Frank Bainamarama's personal security officer, has no special protection.
