Eight young people have been arrested after a brawl in Auckland's Mission Bay yesterday.
The police were called to the brawl on Tamaki Drive involving as many as 100 teenagers late yesterday afternoon.
One person received minor injuries and was taken to hospital.
A police spokesperson said seven young people were arrested for disorderly behaviour and fighting related offences, while another was arrested for assaulting a police officer.
All were released without charge and will be dealt by the Police Youth Aid.
Mission Bay residents are praising the police for breaking up the brawl.
Don Stock, who chairs the local residents' association, said he believes it was a one-off.
"It was certainly an exceptional circumstance, and I've never seen so many police or police vehicles in one space before, let alone Mission Bay, however the police seemed to have it under control very quickly."
The police will continue to maintain a presence in the area today.
