Bob Dylan wins Nobel Prize in Literature

After more than a century of honouring writers and poets, this year's Nobel Prize in Literature has been awarded to a songwriter - Bob Dylan.

Michael Gray, who wrote the first critical study of Dylan's lyrics, says literature is an awkward fit with what Dylan does. However he says the award recognises the way Dylan's work changed song-writing forever, making rock music part of the zeitgeist.
