After 17 years of oil production in the Papua New Guinea Southern Highlands, Oil Search Ltd has awarded a three-year contract for one of the major service contracts it administers to a landowner company.
The Post Courier reports prominent Southern Highlands businessman and Imbonggu MP Francis Awesa formally launched the company and committed his support for the new business venture.
However, he also warned the people to respect the company and not to treat it like a "cash cow".
Mr Awesa says Southern Highlands will miss out once more if it is disorganised and doesn't cooperate to do business.
Mr Awesa challenged ExxonMobil, the operator of the multi billion kina PNG LNG project, to engage the landowners in service contracts for the project.
