96 days, that's the sum total of days Auckland's train network will have to close down as part of a final push to get the long awaited city rail link finished and ready for the start of 2026. The first major shutdown will go from December 27 until January 28 next year. Transport Minister Simeon Brown said even though it will have a big impact on passengers, the closure is essential to get the rail link open in early 2026. But some small businesses are devastated - saying they've not been consulted and have bought stock for what was expected to be a busy summer season. The head of the Auckland business association agrees - saying it is  "a major dis-service to businesses who have already been battling for nearly a decade." Louise Ternouth reports.
