Over the weekend about 250 kids trotted down to Otago's Southern Reservoir to take part in the Fish & Game Take a Kid Fishing event.
The mission was simple: get youngsters of all ages out and about to discover the the fun of fishing.
The annual event is a staple for many in the area.
It will continue this coming weekend with event more participants.
Fish & Game officer Steve Dixon speaks to Susie about the importance of these events.
