A new proposal for a four-storey hotel in Pago Pago has been made by a New York investor.
The site is at Utulei, where the old Rainmaker Hotel once stood.
Governor Lolo Moliga says he met with the investor during his recent trip to Honolulu.
Last month the American Samoa Government issued a request for proposals, for the design, construction, financing, operations and maintenance of a 250-room hotel that would have a 3-and-a-half star rating.
The deadline for parties to submit proposals is Decemebr the 31st.
However the governor has hinted he may extend the deadline in order to attract more proposals.
The hotel site includes the 4.5 acres which the Rainmaker Hotel occupied, and possibly the 1.78 acres currently occupied by Sadies by the Sea Hotel.
The owner of Sadies, Tom Drabble, says the Sadies site may be included if the new development includes an attractive offer.
