Two men disappeared nine days ago after launching a boat in Martins Bay.

The body of one of them, Stewart Atutahi, was recovered soon afterwards in the Kawau Bay area, but the boat and the other fisherman, Nick Stubbs has not been seen since.

Inspector Mark Fergus said the search had been reduced to one police launch and one aerial sweep every second day.

He said there was still nothing to explain what had happened to the men.
