A spoonful of sugar helps the EV last longer

Researchers in Australia have found a small shot of glucose additive could be the secret to creating a vastly more sustainable battery for electric vehicles.

The study conducted at Melbourne's Monash Energy Institute found their lighter lithium-sulfur battery could allow EVs to travel close to 1000 kilometres without needing a recharge - in other words the length of the North Island.

CSIRO, Australia's national science agency, researcher Dr Matthew Hill spoke to Susie Ferguson.
