Samoa election candidate's convictions quashed

Samoa's Supreme Court has cleared a 2016 election candidate of his convictions.

Tuala Iosefo Ponifasio had been found guilt of allegations of bribery and treating during the election campaign.

The allegations were made in private prosecution by the campaign committee of his opponent, Sala Fata Pinati.

The Supreme Court upheld Tuala's appeal, clearing him on all grounds.
