A Fiji citizen in the British army, Aminiasi Toge, who was killed last Thursday after an explosion while he was on foot patrol in Afghanistan was to have celebrated his 27th birthday today.
Rifleman Toge, who died near Gereshk in Central Helmand Province, was born in Suva and is survived by a twin brother, Loame, three sisters and his devoted parents.
At the time of his death, the Fiji Village new site says his platoon was attached to C Squadron Light Dragoons as part of a Danish-led Battle Group.
The Commanding Officer of 2nd Rifles, Lt Colonel Rob Thomson said Rifleman Toge was one of the toughest under his command and "was adored" by all who had the privilege to encounter him.
