Conway stars in Chennai IPL win marked by six-hitting

New Zealand cricketer Devon Conway played a match-winning knock for Chennai Super Kings in a match which broke Indian Premier League records for six-hitting.

Black Caps star Conway smashed 83 off 45 balls as his team pipped Challengers Bangalore by eight runs in a run-fest that featured 33 sixes at Bengaluru's Chinnaswamy Stadium.

That equalled the record for an IPL game, with 33 sixed having been shared when Rajasthan Royals beat the Super Kings three seasons ago.

This time the Super Kings came out on the right side of the ledger, posting 226 for six and then clinging on as Bangalore raced to 218 for eight, aided by a late flurry from Australian Glenn Maxwell, who scored 76 off 36 balls.

Maxwell struck eight sixes and player of the mathc Conway cleared the boundary six times and the New Zealander admitted he was seeing the ball wall.

"My recipe is simple: play good cricket shots," he said.

"I don't wanna be too predictable, so I will try to hit bowlers off their lengths."

Conway has been in good form for the third-placed Chennai, having plundered 50 in their previous game, a loss to table-topping Rajasthan Royals.
