Credit agency accused of gaming the system

10:47 am on 25 March 2014

Privacy Commissioner John Edwards says the country's biggest credit reporting agency is gaming the system by charging people to see their own credit information.

Mr Edwards said Veda Advantage is asking for a $50 fee if people want to see their information in less than 20 days.

He said it's against the law to charge an unreasonable amount for the information and anyone who has paid the fee should ask for a refund or complain to his office.

Mr Edwards told Nine to Noon he's considering taking Veda to the Human Rights Commission and seeking a law change to cap how much companies can charge.
