The electricity worker who initially suffered life-threatening injuries in an incident on Auckland's North Shore yesterday is now in a stable condition.
The man, who worked for a contracting company called Electrix, was doing planned work in Takapuna yesterday when something went wrong.
The incident led to a power cut to more than 11,000 homes.
The man was seriously burned and taken to Middlemore Hospital in a critical condition.
A spokesperson for Electrix declined to comment other than to say the man is now in a stable condition in Middlemore Hospital.
He said the company would undertake its own investigation.
Worksafe said it had been notified and was also making inquiries.
