Three people arrested in Taihape, charged after attending mass gathering in Auckland

Three people have been arrested in Taihape for attending a mass gathering at Auckland Domain last weekend.

Police say they have been charged with failing to comply with a Covid-19 order.

They are due to appear in the Taihape District Court next Wednesday.

There was an anti-lockdown protest on the weekend which thousands attended.

The police could not provide any further details as the issue was before the courts .

RNZ has contacted the Ministry of Health for comment on how they got across the border and what health risk they posed.
