Steve Alker has charged into contention on day three of the Senior British Open in Scotland.
The in-form New Zealander moved within just one shot of the lead after firing a four-under par 66 in the third round to move to eight-under overall.
Alker, who became the first New Zealander to win a senior major title when he took out the Senior PGA Championship in May, had solid back-to-back rounds of two-under par to start the Open.
But he stepped his game up on day three, mixing five birdies with one bogey to card the equal second-best score of the round.
Northern Ireland's Darren Clarke and Englishman Paul Broadhurst shared the lead at nine-under par.
Meanwhile Lydia Ko remained well-placed but a long way back of the lead after round three of the latest women's major, the Evian Championship in France.
The world No 4 had six birdies but a bogey and double bogey in a three-under par round that moved her to 10-under overall.
Ko was in a tie for 11th but still seven shots back of outright leader, Canadian Brooke Henderson.
