Police are investigating the death of a man who arrived at Auckland's Middlemore Hospital with critical injuries.

He died shortly after he arrived around 6am this morning.
Counties Manukau Detective Inspector Karen Bright said a homicide investigation had been launched and police were working to establish the circumstances surrounding the man's death.
A scene examination has been set up at the Manukau velodrome in an effort to work out what happened.
