April retail sales bright in US

Consumer spending is warming up in the United States.

Retailers posted monthly sales results for April on Thursday that were better than expected. The rise was for the second consecutive month.

According to Thomson Reuters data, sales Wal-Mart stores open at least a year in the US, rose 5%.

The company cited demand for Easter merchandise, as well as discretionary items such as entertainment and home goods. Target Corp said its sales rose 0.3%.
