A man has been charged with murder after a person died in Whangārei late last night.

Officers were called to Bank Street when disorder broke out.
They found a critically injured person who died in hospital a short time later.
A 20-year-old man will appear in Whangārei District Court tomorrow.
A 17-year-old has also been charged with injuring with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and will appear in the Whangārei Youth Court tomorrow.
Further arrests have not been ruled out, and police are seeking witnesses or footage of the incident.
