The man was reported to have left South Korea for New Zealand after the deaths of his mother, step-father, and 14-year-old half brother.

New Zealand police now say they have arrested a man, 35, who arrived from Korea this week.

He has been charged over an historic theft, and is in police custody to appear in North Shore District Court tomorrow.

Police said they were liaising with Korean authorities but had not been received extradition proceedings.
