Fire crews at a scrub fire in the Upper Hutt suburb of Trentham have secured a 30-metre perimeter around the site of the weekend's blaze today.
The blaze broke out on Saturday evening at Evergreen Crescent in Trentham, and has burnt through about 14 hectares.
A helicopter and five crews have been on site today, one each from Whanganui, Horowhenua and three from the Wellington area.
In a statement, Incident Controller Bryce Holcroft said hotspots still remain and two crews will work to extinguish them in the morning.
He said firefighters appreciate the kindness and support of the local community, who turned up with home baking, tea and coffee.
