A key facility that will be used at the World Rowing Championships on Lake Karapiro in Waikato later this year has been officially opened by the Governor-General.
The new events and community centre is part of a multi-million-dollar upgrade fast-tracked to be ready for the November world rowing event.
The chief executive of the 2010 championships, Tom Mayo, says everything is on track for the week-long event, which is expected to attract 80,000 spectators.
