06:30 am on 26 August 2013

Mahe Drysdale got back to winning ways after finishing first in heat at the opening day of the 2013 World Rowing Championships in Chungu, Korea, in his first international hit out since the Olympic Games.

Drysdale pushed through the discomfort from his recent bike accident to progress through to the quarter-final.

Other crews who've advanced to the next round of the regatta include Duncan Grant in the lightweight single, women's lightweight single sculler Louise Ayling, and women's pair of Rebecca Scown and Kayla Pratt.

The men's pair of Hamish Bond and Eric Murray again took comfortable win to advance to the semi-final.

And lightweight women's double scull of Julia Edward and Lucy Strack finished second to also progress to the next phase.
