The Guadalcanal Provincial Government in Solomon Islands is against the reopening of the Gold Ridge Mine.
The national government signed an agreement earlier this year with Australian Solomon Gold to reopen the mine.
Premier Arabola says landowners and the provincial government are disappointed that the mine will reopen without local government endorsement and against the wishes of most landowners.
