In the wake of Tropical Cyclone Tomas, the Fiji Times and ANZ Bank yesterday joined forces for the Fiji Cyclone Appeal.

The Fiji Times kicked it off by committing to a over 7,000 US dollar donation. And ANZ will announce soon how much it will donate.

Donations can be made at ANZ branches worldwide, which will distributed through the Fiji Red Cross Society.

Fiji Times Managing Director Anne Fussell, says the people of Fiji have an enormous capacity for helping each other, particularly in times of hardship. She says she is sure they will rally to the assistance of their less fortunate.

ANZ Fiji GM and CEO Pacific Central Region, Norman Wilson, said the bank was committed to helping communities in need following natural disasters.

He says in addition to accepting public donations, the bank will assess the impact on the community and customers in the next couple of days before announcing assistance measures, including a donation to the relief appeal.
