With the halfway stage of the Pacific Games fast approaching, the organising committee has given itself a solid pass mark, while acknowledging there is room for improvement.

The Pacific Games Council says the venues in Port Moresby have far exceeded expectations, even though some are not yet fully complete.
The Chairperson of the Games Organising Committee, Emma Waiwai, says the atmosphere and standard of events in has been great to see.
"Getting out there and just seeing the level of competition it's been really really good competition around the different sporting venues. Our main aim is to make sure our athletes are well looked after. Before the Games I think that our biggest concern was having enough time to prepare ourselves in the venues because, all of a sudden, we've got Games upon us. Especially for the teams staying at the Games Village - we just didn't prepare enough before they came to the village. If we had to do it again we'd make sure we were in there three months before".
Emma Waiwai is also confident Papua New Guinea can maintain top spot in the medals table, which they lead from Tahiti and New Caledonia.
