Dignitaries farewell community worker

16:33 pm on 9 January 2009

More than 150 people, including MPs and other dignitaries, have attended the funeral of one of Christchurch's most influential community workers.

Rafaa Antoun immigrated to Christchurch from Egypt in 2001, and worked to create a better life for other migrants and refugees by dedicating her time to wide-ranging voluntary organisations.

Race Relations Commissioner Joris De Bres and the MPs Chris Carter and Brendon Burns spoke at the funeral on Friday.
