Kaikōura has been shaken by a magnitude 4.7 earthquake this morning, centred 20km west of the town.

The quake struck at 5.04am, at a depth of 9 kilometres.
People have reported feeling the earthquake as far west as Greymouth and as far north as Blenheim and Nelson.
GeoNet described the quake as 'moderate', but it is the largest aftershock in the Kaikōura area since a 5.6 shake in October.
