The chairman of Solomon Islands' Truth and Reconciliation Commission says the support of the government is essential if people are to be healed from the trauma of the ethnic tensions.
Father Sam Ata's comment follows the release of the TRC report by its final editor, Dr Terry Brown, ahead of the legally mandated release by the prime minister following its tabling in parliament.
Father Sam says there is an act of parliament that guides the process and neither he nor the other commissioners are responsible for the report's release.
He says his concern is the healing of the people and for that to happen Solomon Islanders need the support of government.
