Business owners hungry for a new opportunity have been sniffing around Maketu Pies.
The iconic pie-maker was placed in receivership at the end of September after 37 years in business.
But the receivers say they have already had plenty of interest from potential buyers - both local and further afield.
That has come as a relief to many Maketu residents who say losing the business would be disastrous for the township.
Maketu Pies employs around 45 full and part-time staff.
Potential buyers have already begun checking out the business, and receiver Tom Rodewald says he hopes to make a sale by next week.
Pie fans who Checkpoint reporter Nita Blake-Persen spoke to were hopeful the much-treasured bakery business will stay in local hands, and keep the local staff in work.
