The Southern District Health Board says a site for the planned Te Anau maternal and children's hub has been found - but it will not say where.

The hub is scheduled to open on 1 March.

The woman in charge of the project, Lisa Gestro, said she cannot announce details of the site because these are still being finalised.

She said she appreciates the great deal of interest in the hub, and the health board will keep midwives and others informed of progress.

The opening was to coincide with the downgrading of services at Lumsden Maternity Centre, but the board says the transition at Lumsden now will not happen until April.
