Firefighters are battling a 10-hectare blaze in Manawatū, Fire and Emergency says.
It said the scrubfire in the Pohangina Valley - north of Woodville - was not threatening any property.
But the fire was burning in a gully and was difficult to access.
Two helicopters were onsite dousing the flames.
