Inner-city parking fees in Wellington could go up by 50 cents an hour.
The proposed hourly fee of $4.50 for parking within the CBD is set out in the council's draft annual plan.
It would generate $548,000 a year in additional revenue.
Councillor Andy Foster said it had been about 13 years since the fee last increased, because some residents and businesses opposed a hike.
Mr Foster said the rate would have to go up eventually and people needed to accept that.
The public could make submissions on the proposed change if the council approved the draft annual plan on Thursday.
