Aucklanders are divided on a brand new piece of public art at Queens Wharf.

Michael Parekowhai's 'The Lighthouse' is a two-storey weatherboard house that closely resembles the old-style New Zealand state house.

Some believe it's an obscenity at a time when people are literally going homeless for lack of state housing, while others see it as a pointed comment on Auckland's housing crisis.
