Taken with a four megapixel CCD camera and telescope, it combined three separate images to create this image.

The image was taken earlier this month and shows North and Central America, including shallow turquoise seas around the Caribbean islands.

The colour picture was taken from the Deep Space Climate Observatory camera and is made up of three seperate photographs, taken with a four megapixel CCD camera.

The satellite launched in February and, once the camera goes into full operation, NASA expects photographs from it daily.
