A man has been charged with kidnapping in relation to the ongoing investigation into missing Christchurch real estate agent Yanfei Bao.

Police said he has been remanded in custody and is due to appear in the Christchurch District Court on Monday.

Police said in a statement their investigation into Bao's disappearance was continuing, and several people were assisting them.

As part of those inquiries, police are seeking sightings of a vehicle, a silver Mitsubishi sedan, registration DPH101.

"We're interested in sightings of the vehicle from mid-week up until last night, but with a particular focus on the vehicle's location on Wednesday 19 July in Wigram, Hornby, Tai Tapu, Halswell, Redcliffs, and New Brighton," Detective Inspector Nicola Reeves said.

Bao, 44, disappeared on Wednesday morning while door knocking in Wigram in an effort to secure possible listings as part of her job as a Harcourts real estate agent.

In a statement on Saturday night police announced they had seized a car and executed search warrants at two properties in the suburbs of Bryndwr and Wigram.

Today officers have returned to Wigram and resumed their search of a house in Iroquois Place, the street where her car was found.

Inspector Nicola Reeves who is heading the inquiry said on Friday officers were deeply concerned about Bao's safety, but were treating her case as a missing person investigation at this stage.

Her cellphone was found in grass beside the Southern Motorway near Blakes Road, Reeves said.
