Firefighters have contained a vegetation fire in the Mackenzie District but there are worries high winds tonight could help it spread.
Fire and Emergency were called to a fire yesterday in Burkes Pass near Kimbell, where it had spread to more than 100 hectares.
Mackenzie Emergency Operations Centre spokesperson Chris Clarke said the fire hadn't spread any further, but that could change.
"The crews are working in difficult conditions under tree canopy and with destabilised burnt trees. So as soon as the wind gets up there are safety concerns. So if things get to a certain point crews will have to withdraw and sit the wind out."
Clarke said because the fire is in rural high country, there had only been minimal damage to one farm.
