The Samoa Shipping Corporation's vessel, the MV Lady Naomi, will soon begin chartered services to the Cook Islands northern group, and also Tokelau for the next two years.

The service of the Cooks Islands northern group will be twice a month.

Samoa's government says two more chartered services have already been booked to transport people between Rarotonga and the northern Cooks in July and August during the Te Maeva Nui Festival.

It also says it has another proposal in the pipeline to transport passengers to the southern islands.

Meanwhile, neighbouring American Samoa has also proposed the Samoa Shipping Corporation service the Manua island route.
