A project to solve flooding problems in Fiji's Nadi area is expected to take about three years and cost about $US150 million.
Nadi town, which is a major gateway to Fiji, has been under water after Nadi River broke its banks several times in recent years.
Fiji Village reports Fiji's Economy Minister Aiyaz Sayed-Khaiyum briefed parliament on the Nadi River Rehabilitation project this week.
The project will involve building bridges, water dams, pools and rehabilitating the sides of the river bank.
He said Fiji was seeking Green Climate Funds to assist in doing the work.
Japan has also pledged assistance.
