NZ First's newest MP may be named

07:25 am on 13 April 2015

A decision about New Zealand First's next MP may be made today, when the party's board of directors meets.

If, as expected, the party's leader Winston Peters resigns as a list MP, another New Zealand First MP will be able to enter Parliament.

Mr Peters won the Northland by-election last month to become an electorate MP.

Next on New Zealand First's list is Ria Bond.

But political commentator Andrew Geddes of Otago University said the board may decide to skip Ms Bond and bring in someone else from its list.

Mr Peters has declined to comment on the meeting, saying it is a private matter for the board.
