A man has died after being found unresponsive in a creek in a central Auckland suburb.

Police say the man was found in Meola Creek in Westmere at about 7am today.
They are trying to piece together what happened, and the death is being treated as unexplained at this stage.
Cordons are in place and people are being asked to avoid the area.
Anyone who saw or heard anything unusual in the area overnight or early this morning should get in touch with police.
