The Labour Party has announced its candidate for the Ohariu electorate will be Virginia Andersen.
The seat is currently held by United Future leader Peter Dunne.
Ms Andersen was the only nomination and will be confirmed as Labour's candidate on Sunday.
She has previously worked for the Office of Treaty Settlements, the New Zealand Police and as a private secretary and senior political adviser in Parliament.
