Police are considering their options after searches for a swimmer missing in the Waikato River produced no new information.
The Police National Dive Squad and Coastguard volunteers have been searching for the man since Saturday night, when he was reported missing.
The man was in the natural hot pools at Spa Park, near Taupo, then swam into the main flow of the river and did not get back to the bank.
Senior Constable Barry Shepherd said there was a chance he could have swum to a nearby freedom camping spot.
He said yesterday's search had found nothing to indicate someone missing in the river.
Mr Shepherd said there were no searches planned for today.
