Air Niugini says it has fixed safety deficiencies identified by the Papua New Guinea Accident Investigation Commission.

The Commission last week wrote to the national airline, saying it had found issues with its Boeing 737s which could result in injury or death.

The findings were part of an ongoing investigation into the crash of an Air Niugini plane in Micronesia in September.

Chief Commissioner Hubert Namani asked for on board safety cards which showed the wrong path for accessing life rafts to be fixed.

The Commission says it received a response on Wednesday from Air Niugini advising that the changes had been made.
