State house insurance claim

07:19 am on 15 April 2013

Housing New Zealand has settled an insurance claim for 5559 damaged houses in Canterbury.

Housing Minister Nick Smith said the $320 million deal will mean the number of state houses available in Canterbury should return to pre-quake levels by the end of 2015.

He said Housing New Zealand can speed up its plans to rebuild and repair state housing in Christchurch.
