A fire has torn through a Historic Places building in Christchurch.
The Fire Service was called to the Risingholme Community Centre, on Cholmondeley Avenue, just after 8pm on Monday.
A Fire Service spokesman Darryl Ball said crews were called after a fire alarm went off.
Mr Ball said a small fire had grown quickly and had fully engulfed the building.
He said the building was listed as a category two Historic Places building.
