SkyCity is spending $24 million doing up its entranceway.
The casino operator said preliminary work was already under way for its atrium spruce-up in Auckland.
It said the money will be spent on new wall claddings, chandeliers and light features, new entrance doors and flooring, and new toilets on the ground floor.
It will also reconfigure the escalators.
It said the main gaming floor on level two will also be extended slightly by filling in some of the atrium space.
Last month, independent commissioners decided resource consent for SkyCity's planned $450 million convention centre will not be notified.
