NZX 50 drops 15 points

The NZX 50, closed down 15 points (0.4%) at 3465 on Wednesday, on a relatively low turnover of $36 million.

Fletcher Building fell 7 cents to $6.13, and cornerstone stock Telecom slipped 1.5 cents to $2.50, while its offshoot, Chorus fell 3 cents to $3.24.

Contact Energy dropped 3 cents to $4.80, Sky City Entertainment fell 2 cents to $3.42, and Air New Zealand fell half a cent to 90.5 cents

Among retailers, Hallenstein Glasson dropped 3 cents to $4.06, Pumpkin Patch slipped another 1 cent to 88 cents, and "big box" chain Warehouse rose 3 cents to $2.56.

Stocks which finished the day unchanged from their opening price included Trade Me ($3.74), Auckland International Airport ($2.43) and Xero ($5.10).

Diligent rose 7 cents to $3.89 and Sky Network TV rose 1 cent to $4.98.

At the end of the trading day, the NZ dollar was buying 79.33 US cents, 78.02 Australian, 51.16 pence, 63.04 yen, 0.6456 euro, and the TWI was at 72.19 points.
