Nearly 100 people have been confirmed as losing their jobs in Hawke's Bay and Tararua following the liquidation of roading contractor Infracon.
Infracon, which is jointly owned by the Tararua District Council and the Central Hawke's Day District Council, is ceasing trading after suffering losses for the past three years.
Tararua mayor Roly Ellis says that 98 redundancies have been confirmed today, while 113 jobs have been retained.
Mr Ellis says help for those who have lost their jobs is available at a hub set up in Woodville with links to five recruitment companies, including two in Christchurch.
